I am always on the look out for interesting neighbourhoods, and I was introduced a new area at the beginning of this week. It was an eye-opening experience and a great discovery.
The area of Shioashiya on the coast of Ashiya is a recent new development. It is directly south of Hanshin Ashiya. There is a sandy beach, a marina, a grass sports field (yes real grass), a sports club, an outdoor foot bath (real hot spring for bathing tired feet) and a greenbelt around the town. It is an ideal environment for family living. Travel to Osaka or Kobe center takes less than 30 minutes via Hanshin Ashiya.
It is worth visiting to see for yourself. Take a picnic, play football or go for a cycle. It is sometimes surprising how lucky we are to live in Kobe next to the sea, and the mountains. After a visit to Tokyo you appreciate the high quality of life in Kobe with its tree lined streets, pavement cafes and restaurants.
